The aim of this project was to provide economic regeneration in St Pauls and adjacent areas of Bristol, namely St.Werburghs, St.Agnes, Old Market, Barton Hill and parts of Easton.
Project ideas and development have come from the local community delivering the outcomes of creating jobs, wealth and opportunities for local people, through new and innovative, self-generated actions.
This scheme was also set up to increase the numbers and skills of Bristol people in the URBAN area obtaining work in the construction industry. As a result of targeted outreach, the project has provided training and support to access employment specifically in the construction industry. Successful trainees were then placed directly into employment.
'On-Site' Bristol, which was primarily a job brokerage organisation, has already been successful and widely known in the industry. On-site continues the success of the project in the URBAN area, and will continue to address and resolve the imbalance.
'On-Site URBAN Outreach' has increased the access to construction industry employment. This has been done by enhancing information and communication flows and access to job opportunities and networks, whilst improving skills shortages. To date the project has provided guidance and advice to 51 people. On-Site finished on the 31st December 2000
