This was the first project to be completed in the Bristol URBAN Programme on 31 December 1999.
Its target group was disabled people and those employers that required consultancy and advice on disability and employment matters.
The key aim was to provide employment and training opportunities for disabled people to gain access to these through New Deal and local provision. Launched in 1998, the partnership has delivered access training, advice and support and mentoring services. However, despite not reaching its original targets, due to difficulty in recruitment and at the time a lack of accessible venues, the scheme has been received well by those disabled URBAN area residents taking part.
There is also a view that when the other 'access improvement' projects in the Bristol URBAN Programme are completed, positive action could then stand a better chance of establishing itself in a different format.
